Accra, May 6, GNA - The Ministry of Information was on Friday asked to intensify its activities of information flow by relaying good reports about Ghana to the outside world.
"Ghana is doing quite well and we should do well to let the outside world know what is going on" the British High Commissioner, Mr Gordon Witherel told the Minister of Information, Mr Dan Botwe in Accra. During a courtesy call on the Information Minister, Mr Witherel commended Ghana for doing so well among her neighbours in the West Africa Sub-Region, having learnt from its past experiences of four military take-overs but now has lots of positive signs of growth. He said very often, it was only the negative reports about the countries in the Sub-Region that went out, citing the Dagbon Crisis of Ghana and the Togo and Cote d'Ivoire incidents.
The High Commissioner said it would be beneficial for Ghana to market her good ventures in the area of peace, trade, security and investment opportunities.
He also commended Ghanaian women for the prominent roles they were playing at the grassroots, markets and in the big society in ensuring that the country moved forward.
Mr Botwe thanked the Commissioner for his advice and briefed him on measures that were being taken by the Government to ensure the general development of the nation.
He said the Government was practising on open door policy under which governance was taken down to the people through the Peoples' Assembly and press conferences where opportunities were created to address the concerns of the people.
He said Government intended to introduce the national identification cards to help in continuous voter registration, which would eventually check double registration.
The two also discussed the UK elections and the performance of the Ghanaian Media.
