The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched its “Vote for Change” campaign in the Northern Regional capital of Tamale.

The campaign is focused on moving the country forward and combating state capture.

The campaign, spearheaded by campaign manager Professor Joshua Alabi, aims to rally support for the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024.

Addressing attendees at the campaign launch in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, Prof. Alabi emphasized the significance of the upcoming polls, distinguishing them from typical electoral contests.

"We’re here to launch the fight against state capture, we’re here to fight and move to the Flagstaff House come January 7, 2025,” he noted.

Prof. Alabi stressed that this election is not just about political competition but about the welfare and development of the nation.

“This election is different; democracy is about our welfare. It’s not like a football match between Breman United and Savannah Stars, no, it’s about our welfare,” he stated.

He continued, “In a football match, your team wins, you go drink beer and you sleep, but this one is about your community development, it’s about Ghana moving forward. And what do you see today? We’re moving in the wrong direction, and that’s why we’re launching the 'Vote for Change' today.”

Encouraging citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, Prof. Alabi assured the public of the NDC's commitment to protecting their votes.

“We’re assuring everybody here we’re going to protect your votes, so go and vote, be very confident and go and vote, and we shall protect the vote,” he urged.
