Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has expressed complete disgust at what he describes as the ‘sick’ state the country finds itself in presently.

According to him, the system has been dented with such recklessness and irresponsibility such that there is but very little sanity left for which reason the country’s progress is inhibited.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Mr. Agyapong highlighted the poor attitude of Ghanaians towards work and customers and the corrupt nature of our culture as the major factors for retrogression and a failing system in the country. He among other things touched on the appalling conditions at health facilities and emergency wards nationwide.

He bemoaned the situation where patients, particularly persons who require keen attention are subjected to inhumane treatment when they seek the services of these facilities and others completely ignored by so-called medical professionals when they are at their weakest points.

The lackadaisical attitude by management and employees of local airlines, hotels, and public utility providers towards passengers and clients according to him, are also clear indicators of the terrible state of affairs as it currently stands in the country.

“You should see the way patients are treated in the hospitals. There are people lying on the floor of emergency wards in several hospitals, men and women alike, grown women exposing their vitals because there is not enough space. What kind of system is this?, the country is sick, the country is sick”

“The Ministry of Aviation must check all the airlines, the way they treat passengers. In one instance, I was grossly disrespected by one staff of one airline….in another, about 40 passengers got to their destination only to realise their luggage hadn’t arrived….we are not animals to be treated that way…..what kind of system is this? You are disrespected when you travel outside and you have to face the same disrespect in your own country?”

“Ghanaians have a problem with attitude. If you are being treated at a hotel outside Ghana, regardless of how small their pay is, they treat you with so much dignity, it’s different in Ghana, they think they are doing you a favor when they are serving you, it is the same when you go to several other offices and places in Ghana”.

He chided preachers for brainwashing their followers with ‘unnecessary’ sermons, leaving out the most important; ‘attitude’
.
“Pastors also add theirs, indoctrination, many of the pastors are just teaching ways to find money, leaving the attitude part out”.

Kennedy Agyapong urged President Akufo-Addo and the NPP to put in stringent measures to deal with the loopholes in the country's system without fear or favor. He advised that the President channel his attention to the health sector when the issues of Free SHS and education are dealt with.

"We need to revolutionize the system by changing the system by force and making Ghanaians realise the need for a change. President Akufo-Addo must focus his attention on health next after addressing the issues with the education sector", he said.
