Ghana needs a new breed of leaders - Kwabena Agyepong

Oyoko, (Ash), July 11, GNA - Mr Kwabena Agyepong, a presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that the nation needs a new breed of youthful leaders who are capable of harnessing the potentials inherent in her human and material resources for rapid socio-economic development.

"All over the world the mantle of leadership has now fallen on the youth in view of the crucial role they play in national development", he stated.
He insisted that as Ghana was no exception to this development, stakeholders should create the enabling environment for the youth with the requisite skills, experience and capabilities to take up responsible and leading roles in national affairs.
Mr Agyepong made the call during an interaction with supporters at Oyoko near Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti at the weekend to assess his chances at the party's delegates' congress slated for the latter part of the year.
He also inaugurated a 25,000 Ghana cedi library complex, which was financed in collaboration with PLAN Ghana, an NGO and built in honour of his late father, Mr Justice Kwadwo Adjei Agyepong, one of the three judges who were murdered in 1982.
While expressing optimism about his chances at the delegates' congress, Mr Agyepong promised to build on the good foundation so far laid by the NPP government if given the mantle as presidential candidate.
He expressed his desire to restore discipline among the youth for increased productivity.
Mr Agyepong described himself as "about the best contestant among the current generation of presidential aspirants who has the ability and vision needed to consolidate on the achievements of the NPP". He said just as President Kufuor learnt from the great leadership qualities of the late Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia "so had I learnt a lot from the former", stressing that he was now ripe for presidency and also equal to the challenges that go with it in-spite of his youthful appearance.
