Ghana needs a ‘revolution’ – Okyenhene

Okyenhene Osaagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has called for a special revolution to turn the fortunes of Ghana around.

“Instead of having a revolution of coups d’etat, maybe what we need is a revolution of attitudes and values.”

The President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs was speaking at a waste management and sanitation forum on Wednesday, July 23 in Accra.

He lamented the worsening sanitation conditions in the country, putting the blame on the doorstep of leadership.

“’Leadership is not rulership. Leadership is not kingship. Leadership is when you have creative mind,” the Paramount King of the Akyem Kingdom stated.

He continued that leaders need to think on their feet and bring out sterling ideas “to change lives”.

Osaagyefo Ofori Panin also lamented events that characterized Ghana’s participation in the 2014 World Cup, recalling that the action of the over 200 Ghanaian football fans to seek asylum in Brazil is evidence that all is not well in the country.

“Let us build this country to the point where it will be alright to be born here.”
