Ghana ranked 69th in 2008 corruption perception index

Ghana has been ranked 67 among 180 countries included in the 2008 corruption perception index. This represents an improvement over last year’s position of 69. According to the Index, Ghana scored 3 point 9 out of 10 as against last year’s score of 3 point 7.

Factors that accounted for this year’s performance include the enactment of Laws aimed at providing transparency and accountability, the creation and support of anti-corruption or accountability institutions and activities of civil society groups.

This was made known by the Executive secretary of the Ghana Integrity initiative, Vitus Azeem at the Launch of the 2008 corruption perception index in Accra .
