Ghana refuses entry to former leader of Ivorian National Assembly

Guillaume Soro Guillaume Soro

Ghanaian authorities on Friday refused an Ivorian politician and former leader of the country’s National Assembly Guillaume Soro entry into Ghana.

The decision by Ghana was at the request of the Ivorian leader Alassane Ouattara, Starr News has learnt.

On December 23, Ivorian prosecutors issued an international arrest warrant for the former president of the National Assembly, forcing Soro to divert his flight to Ghana.

Soro who intends running for president of the country next year is wanted for an attempted assault on state authority, embezzlement of public funds, concealment of embezzlement of public funds and money laundering, according to State Prosecutor Richard Adou.

The politician took to twitter to rant over Ghana’s decision not to grant him entry.
