Ghana's High Commissioner to Namibia sworn-in

Accra, Feb. 13, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday presented Ghana's High Commissioner to Namibia, Mrs Afua Daaku with her Letters of Commission at the Castle, Osu, telling her to help to boost the economic ties between the two nations.

"Namibia is a very interesting country and has a lot of promise", he said, and urged her to go in at a discerning height to connect the two countries for their mutual benefit.

President Kufuor had earlier administered to Mrs Daaku, the Oath of Allegiance, the Official Oath and the Oath of Secrecy. He noted that the High Commissioner had all it took to perform creditably and said he was confident that she would excel. Mrs Daaku said she was grateful to President Kufuor for the honour done her and the trust reposed in her to serve the nation in a new capacity as High Commissioner.

She said she was not only aware of the responsibility, but also very much alive to the Government's vision of reducing poverty, creating wealth and enhancing the pace of the country's economic growth. These, she said were going to guide her in her work and promised to help to uplift the image of Ghana and to concentrate on strengthening the bilateral trade between the two countries. 13 Feb. 06
