Ghana's economy collapsing under Mahama - NPP

A member of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) campaign team Yoofi Grant has lashed out at the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing it of mismanaging the economy.

This, according to him, has landed the country in a dangerous situation, which will lead it to recording the worst Gross Domestic Profit (GDP) ever.

“An economy is the basic foundation and template for the development of everything else. If don’t the economy right, nothing else is likely to go right,” Mr. Grant said on Monday on Morning Starr on Starr103.5FM.

“…So for us, it’s important that, over the years, we’ve an economy that one can easily say has gradually just almost collapsed and therefore, there is the need for a change,” he added.

He said without that needed change “we are very clear that we are not going to where we want to get and things are going to be even worse.”

He noted that the economy lacks a clear growth trajectory rendering every activity in the country shaky.

Addressing the backlash that followed the launch of the NPP's manifesto last week, Mr. Grant said the criticisms of its content are unwarranted.

When asked why their manifesto delayed by host Nii Arday Clegg, he explained that “this has been work in progress since January.”

The said the party during the manifesto preparation period traversed the length and breadth of the country to seek the input of Ghanaians.

“The actual framework for it has always been there,” he added, stating that it was the document per se that really matter.

He thus called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP for a competent management of the economy.
