GhanaFest 2003 In Chicago

Chicago,USA -- Chicagoans has quickly put behind them the recent bitter divisions generated by the raucous elections that nearly marred one of the biggest Ghanaian festivals in North America and released details for this years Ghanafest celebrations.

For the first time in the history of Ghanafest celebrations in Chicago, this year’s festival will be a stupendous two day event, Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 respectively, and will be co-hosted by the Ghana National Council, and African International House at the Washington Park (Pearce Drive at Picnic Grove 12).

Ghanafest is sponsored by the City of Chicago Mayor's Office of Special Events and managed by the Ghana National Council, whilst the Pan African Soccer Tournament and taste of Africa are sponsored by the Chicago Park District and managed by the African International House.

Saturday July 26th will mark Cultural Exposition of Ghanaian thanksgiving festivities with parade of chiefs, queens and their royal entourage, amidst cultural drumming and dancing, whilst Sunday July 27th will be an all-day Picnic and Music. Other Attractions include a Two-day Pan African Soccer Tournament (20 African Soccer Teams), magnificent and Mouth Watering Taste of African Cuisine, raffles, horse riding, dame and ampe competitions and “cho-choo" train rides for the entire family.

Vendor space will be reserved on first come first serve basis. Applications for the brochure booklet will be closed by June 1, 2003.
