#GhanaNeedsAnswers: Here’s what some Ghanaians are asking Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Twitter has been packed with comments and questions directed at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following his 8th national address to the country.

Most of these questions have been centered on some decisions made by the president including his promise to build 88 new hospitals.

Using the hashtag ‘GhanaNeedsAnswers’, some Ghanaians on Twitter are not in support of the idea of the construction of new hospitals when there are old uncompleted ones languishing.

To prove their seriousness, the tweeps decided to dig out pictures of several unfinished hospital projects by previous Mahama-led administration. To them, the 88 hospital infrastructure promised by the government is a sham.

“With contempt to the recent claim by government to build 88 districts hospitals and the promise government made 9months ago to complete the almost completed hospitals shows their records of ideology in infrastructures are abysmal,” a twitter user wrote.

“The erstwhile JM government, made huge investments in enhancing healthcare delivery. $1.2bn healthcare centres were in various levels of completion before handing over power. You decided not to complete those in 3years, but promise u will build 88 hospitals,” Another wrote.

“I will build 88 District hospitals in less than a year. Mr President, Mahama never built the health facilities with his own money, complete the abandoned health facilities, Ghanaians deserve better than your unachievable Herculean promises,” a tweet read.

Some are also finding answers to what they described as government borrowing huge sums of money but have little to account for.

“How has this government borrowed GHc130billion and achieved so little. Their response to everything appears to be Free SHS. Terrible #GhanaNeedsAnswers,” A twitter user wrote

“This is what Akufo-Addo is using the 1 billion dollars from the IMF for. When he lied to them that he was coming to save the economy with it. Lied logically, lied International. Lying everywhere. #GhanaNeedsAnswers,” another wrote.
