Dignitaries and Top Artists Arrive In Chicago for Ghanafest 2011 Sensational Ghanaian Musician, Nana Boroo , arrived in Chicago this afternoon from his New Jersey base to perform at the 24th annual Ghanafest celebrations here. Accompanying Nana Boroo is his manager Terry and top Ghanaian DJ from Accra, D.J Mensah. D.J Mensah informed Ghanaweb International that he is glad to be part of Ghanafest 2011 in Chicago. ”It is the ambition of every top D.J to perform on the highest stage, and I think Chicago will offer me that tomorrow,” saind D.J Mensah unassumingly.
Dignitaries expected at the event includes the Governor of Illinois, Patt Quinn, United States Congressman Bobby L Rush, Cook County Board President, Mr. Ebenezer Adjirackor, Minister Commercial and head of Trade and Investment at the Ghana Embassy in Washington D.C, Toni Preckwinkle and many others.
Members of the Nyansapo Band led by Smart Frimpong are also preparing feverishly to entertain the expected teeming crowd. The group is noted for playing popular and rollicking selections of highlife and what “Ga” people call “kolomashie” . A member of the group, Nii Okine , dazzles his audience with a solo he describes as “ Gamashie” show. The best Disc Jockeys’ in the Chicago area will be featured. For the first time, the Pentecost Church Choir will also entertain the crowd with good selections of gospel tunes Meanwhile Bank giants in Ghana, ECOBANK, is participating in this year’s Ghanafest. They will unveil new products especially tailored for the financial needs of Ghanaians abroad. The head of ECOBANK delegation to Ghanafest and Head of Domestic Banking, Mr. George Mensah-Asante, informed Ghanaweb International in a brief pre-flight interview.
