Begoro, July 1, GNA - A group of civil servants in the Fanteakwa District has urged the management of Ghanafin Financial Services to authorize the Accountant General's Department to stop the deduction of loans they contracted from the company.
The workers told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, they were ready to refund the loans they contracted, if the director of the company, Mr Osei Larteh effected the stoppage of the deduction. They complained that they were defrauded by the so-called agent of the company, Mr Nyarko Boateng, who deceived them on the modalities for contracting the loan.
A spokesman for the workers, Mr Wellington Ampo, said even some workers, who never contracted loans from the company had had some deductions made from their May salary for the repayment of loans not contracted.
Mr Ampo said the workers took the loan because the agent of the company, Nyarko Boateng deceived them that whatever loan one contracted would attract an interest of six percent per annum for three years. He said the victims were shocked, when deduction made from their May salaries for the repayment of the loans were more than what was agreed on with the agent of the company.
He said efforts to get the agent to explain the cause of the exorbitant deductions failed, since he had stopped coming to Begoro after the deal.
Two pay slips of May salary of the victims, which were shown to the cedis. Mr Ampo said the workers would take the company to court for defrauding them, if the management refused to stop the deduction of the loan at the end of July, 2006.
