A GHANAIAN AWARDED A PRESTIGIOUS 2014 TRUMPET AWARDS IN ATLANTA
The Trumpet Awards which was established by CNN Founder Mr. Ted Turner and Mrs. Xernona Clayton, who is the CEO, celebrated its 22 year anniversary on January 23 of this year. This Prestigious Red Carpet Awards recognizes significant achievements of Blacks from various disciplines from around the world. Among those recognized this year include DeVon Franklin, Senior VP of Sony Pictures for Entertainment, Professor Charles Ogletree from Harvard, whose students at Harvard Law School included US President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama, Ms. Afre Woodard Actress, the California Attorney General, the Hon. Kamilla Harris, the Philadelphia Sounds and the Bronner Brothers, founders of a global cosmetic company. The Walk of Fame Awardees included Former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, Rev Jasper Williams and the Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie the Prime Minister of the Bahamas.
Dr. Thomas Mensah, Fiber Optics inventor is shown in the photo with Mrs. Xernona Clayton, the Trumpet Awards Founder at the Awards. Among the many Celebrities on hand were ; Ms. Cathy Hughes Founder of TV One, Mr. Martin Luther king III, Mr. Bill Allen Educator, Mayor Bill Campbell , Actors , Melissa De Sousa, and Chris Tucker. Past Honorees include, General Colin Power, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Dr. Thomas Mensah (Promenade of Distinction), and many other black achievers. The Chief Justice of the Ghana, the Hon. Georgina Theodora Wood has also been recognized by the Trumpet Awards Foundation. The Board of Directors of The Trumpet Awards includes Mr. Ted Turner, Ambassador Andrew Young, Mr. Danny Blackwell, Mr. Tommy Dortch and others. This Televised Event will be aired worldwide by the US Based TV One later this year.
