Ghanaian Chronicle

The Ghanaian Chronicle in a lead story, says the rumpus within the NDC has spilled over to the regions resulting in the use of threat, intimidation and arm-twisting in the scramble for positions in the wake of the Goosie threat.

According to the paper, in Accra, extreme pressure is being put on senior government ministers to declare their loyalty to President Jerry Rawlings' choice for president in the year 2000. The Chronicle says in Kumasi, gunshots were fired at a constituency congress. The paper says at the time of going to press, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, Minister of Defence who was mentioned by Mr Goosie Tanoh in his interview with JOY FM, had been questioned about his loyalty to the President's choice, Prof. John Atta Mills.

Meanwhile, the Chronicle says the NDC propaganda machine, the avuncular Vincent Assiseh, has been "frozen" over his utterances in the recent past. Mr Assiseh is reported to have said in a radio interview that "lying is part of the political game of the NDC". GRi
