Ghanaian Community –China Cautions To Political Parties

On 24th March, 2012 as part of the 55th Independence Day Celebration, Ghanaians in China converged at Baiyun International Convention Center, Guangzhou to pay tribute to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The event was organized by Ghanaian Community with the support of Ghana Embassy in China and sponsored by seven Chinese companies.

Mr. James Asare-Tano who is the Chairman of Ghanaian Community was the first to address the gathering. In his speech, he invokes the memory of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah about his extraordinary role he played towards the attainment of Ghana Independence. The Ghanaian Community Chairman took the opportunity to caution all the political parties in Ghana the need to carry out decent campaigns devoid of personal attacks and insults. He said Ghana democracy has gone through the mill and Ghanaians have decided to choose their leaders through the ballot box and political parties must present their manifesto to the electorates without innuendos and character assassination. He said Ghanaians in Diaspora can only come home to invest if the prevailing peace is sustained.

Beyond the festive nature of the occasion, Mr. James Asare Tano recollected a few achievement of Ghanaian Community. He told the gathering that his outfit has become a court for resolving issues between Ghanaians trading in China and their Chinese counterparts. The community corroborated with the Ghana Embassy to secure amnesty for overstayed Ghanaians and were exited smoothly back home. He also recounted a number of tickets and overstayed penalties the community has paid for stranded Ghanaians in China. He therefore used the opportunity to thank Guangzhou Public Security Department for their unceasing support and cooperation. Mr. Tano reechoed the need for all the Africans in China to be law abiding and live an exemplary life to up lift the image of Africa. Her Excellency Mrs. Mamle Kofi , Ghana Ambassador to China who was expected to lead a delegation from the Embassy to represent Ghana Government and also to chair the occasion could not make it due to circumstances beyond her control. She delegated the head of mission,Mr. Akwasi Agyeman Agyare to present her speech on behalf of the President and the Government. In her speech, she outlined how the 3billion Chinese dollar loan shall be utilized to improve the various sectors of the economy and Chinese direct investment in Ghana. Ghanaian Community once again thanks all sponsors and assures them of our patronage.

In another development, Ghanaian Community wants to place on record that no executive member is a card bearing member of any political party and therefore debunk such allegation. LONG LIVE GHANA! LONG LIVE CHINA! LONG LIVE GHANAIAN COMMUNITY !
