Ghanaian Elected RGU International Prez

Students at Robert Gordon University, in Aberdeen, have elected their first international student as president.

Abed-Nego Bandim, 27, from Ghana, is studying for an LLM in international information technology. He decided to run for president because of his interest in the activities and welfare of his fellow students.

Mr Bandim's main aim is to form a student general assembly to brainstorm and debate issues relating to the well-being of students, both academically and socially.

"If students unite and have one voice, we will be able to achieve a great amount," he said. "We must work together to continue and build on the strong relationships between staff and students and create conditions within our institution to motivate those with an adventurous spirit to break new barriers in academic and social involvement."

Mr Bandim will take up his post on August 1.
