Ghanaian Fashion designer to donate gown for prom 2011

Afua Sam, CEO and lead designer, of Studio D'Maxsi, has become one of the most sought after designers in the MD, DC, VA area and participates in numerous fashion shows. Her designs are always on the runway including, Step to the Cure Fashion Show, Baltimore MD, 2008, Street Glam, Silver Spring MD, 2009, and Beyond Words Fashion and Art Show, Washington DC, 2010. She has dressed local celebrities including Dr. Patricia Schmoke, wife of former Baltimore mayor Kurt Schmoke.

The concept for Operation Prom, was developed by Afua due to the suffering economy. Her designs are sought after by many, including young ladies who want a one-of-kind gown for their prom. She noticed that this aspect of her business was diminishing and realized that some people can no longer afford the extravangance that is considered the norm for attending a prom. Afua didn't want the economy to prevent anyone from experiencing the glitz and glam of prom, thus she created Operation Prom.

Operation Prom, supported by Afua's Foundation, is open to local students in the MD, DC, VA area, will give away a gown, designed especially for a deserving young lady. To qualify, students must write a 500 word essay stating why she deserves a Studio D'Maxsi gown, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, excellent attendance, and a seriousness about accomplishing her goals. Essays can be submitted to info@studiodmaxsidesigns.com no later than February 28, 2011. For more information go to http://studiodmaxsidesigns.com/.

Operation Prom is also seeking sponsors. If you are a florist, hair stylist, make up artist, limousine company or other business and would like to know more about supporting Operation Prom email info@studiodmaxsidesigns.com.
