Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Capt (Rtd) Nkrabea Effah-Darteh has expressed shock at a publication in last Tuesday, 10th February 2004 edition of the Ghanaian Voice newspaper that, six District Assemblies have had their European Union assisted projects suspended, because the Assemblies misinformed the European Union on the projects.
He named the affected Districts as Cape-Coast, Kabena Nankana, Nandon, Savelugu-Nanton and Yendi.
Captain Nkrabea Effah Darteh last week asked for a few days to enable him conduct a search into the matter. Speaking to Peace FM on Tuesday, the Deputy Minister stated that projects going on in those Districts are being funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) under the British Government and the European Union.
He named the projects as a three classroom block with headteacher?s office and offices for teaching staff. Meanwhile, the project Director of European Union, Dr. Kwaku Osafo Akoto in an interview with PeaceFM, on Tuesday, confirmed the Voice Newspaper Story.
