Ghanaian leaders told to preach peace

Kumasi, Oct. 4, GNA - The Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Churc= h of Ghana (PCG), has held its 34th Annual Delegates Conference with a call o= n Ghanaians to embrace good neighbourliness to ensure national progress. The Reverend Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, the Chairperson of the Conference, called for unity and religious and cultural tolerance among people in society.

He urged political leaders to preach peace, saying it should not be los= t on them that most African countries looked up to Ghana for inspiration. Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong noted therefore that it was important leaders set good examples and denounced violence, vindictiveness and other unhealth= y practices that tended to create needless tension and hold back the nation= 's development. The three-day meeting is being held under the theme: 93Forgiveness." The delegates are taking stock of the activities of the Presbytery wit= h the view to strengthening and promoting the growth of the Church. Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong reminded the Presbyters that the congregation looked up to them for guidance in their Christian lives and said that demanded from them devotion to religious duties and practices. They should therefore adhere to Presbyterian principles and Christian ethics.

The Chairperson advised the participants to take the deliberations seriously and strive to ensure the successful implementation of ideas they would come up with.
