Ghanaian taxi driver slammed for over-charging foreigners during trips

The attitude of taxi drivers has come under the microscope after one commercial driver reportedly duped a visiting foreigner.

A Facebook post by Richard Dogboe narrated the ordeal of a South African national who was made to pay GHc250 for a 5-kilometer distance.

Richard said the South African visitor was lodging at a hotel near the Airport area and wanted a cab to East Legon.

However, he said, a taxi driver charged the foreigner Ghc300 for the journey due to his (the visitor) naivety with fare charges in Ghana.

He explained that the taxi driver finally settled on GHc250, which is still way beyond the normal charge of between GHc20 to GHc30 cedis for the same journey.

He went on to slam taxi drivers who take advantage of foreigners who visit the country to dupe them.
