Ghanaians In Germany Blast Ghana's Mission

Ghanaians living in Hamburg have called on the mission in Germany to organize Ghanaians living in that country to contribute meaningfully to the country development. They accuse the mission of distancing itself from the Ghanaians making it difficult for them understand what’s required of them so they can contribute their quota.

The government has been calling for contribution from Ghanaians both home and abroad in the development of the country through the organization of forums in Europe America and other African countries. JOY FM reporter, Fred Avornyo, who visited Germany recently however says Ghanaians living in Hamburg feel left out.

They allege that the embassy in the country has failed to bring them up to date on issues confronting the nation and by extension denying them the opportunity to contribute to national development like their counterparts in the Diaspora.

It seemed like these concerns had been long running, so when Ghana Airways’ maiden flight reached Hamburg, some Ghanaians took the opportunity to discuss with Ministers present their frustrations and complaints about perceived inactiveness of the Ghana mission in Germany.

One complainant alleged that he had never seen the ambassador. He observed that although some of them wanted to take the initiative and organize Ghanaians, such a move will only materialize if the Ghanaian mission got involved. He therefore urged the mission to organize forums in major cities in Germany to create a platform for interaction among Ghanaians in that country.

The Ghanaians in Germany are hoping that regular forums at the country’s embassy will bridge the divide, keep them informed about what happens back home and hopefully create a sense of belongingness, which will spur them on to return home after their sojourn abroad.
