Rather than be ‘sweet talked’ when the real crux of the issues are hidden and covered, NDC flagbearer hopeful, Elikplim Agbemava has said politicians ought to be frank and forthright about the real state of affairs in the nation at every point in time.

Speaking to Ghanaweb Editor, Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng, the lawyer argued that dishonesty and treachery on the political front has contributed a great deal to the rather slow rate of development the country has experienced over time. “Responsible politics’ as he terms it requires that politicians are ‘real’ and plain with citizens.

“We must do responsible politics in Ghana that is what is most important. If we want to communicate with the people of Ghana, we must communicate to them in all honesty and explain to them what the real issues are and when they are called upon to take bigger tasks, we must be frank and let them know because the whole country belongs to all of us and we cannot risk losing the country, if the country comes down, we all lose but if we sacrifice and we are able to build a better Ghana, then we all enjoy”, he noted

His principles of integrity and honesty he believes therefore place him in the ‘best’ position to lead the country and transform the current trend of deceit and corruption in governance.

“I’m a better candidate because I bring honesty and integrity to the politics we have in Ghana.
Touching on his colleague contender, ex-President Mahama’s performance in the previous government, he said;

“We all know the price we are paying for bad governance. I admit there was bad governance when the NDC was in power, that’s why we were voted out. In the estimation of the people of Ghana, he did not meet their expectation.”

Elikplim Agbemava is joining the likes of Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin; former Trade Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah; former Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. Joshua Alabi; and former NHIA boss, Sylvester Mensah and John Dramani Mahama to contest the position of flagbearership in the NDC.
