The widespread of power fluctuations has brought back memories of the load shedding of days.

For two consecutive nights, many parts of the nation were hit with the widespread of power outages. Some of the areas affected were Koforidua, Cape Coast, some parts of Accra as well as some parts of the northern region.

Some concerned Ghanaians speaking to Ghanaweb stated that the situation is uncomfortable for them.

They complained of having difficulties with sleeping at night; adding that the night becomes extremely hot when the lights go off.

A hair stylist salon owner said, had it not been for an early intervention, and the fact that she was in the salon, the air conditioner which blew up as a result of unstable voltages could have razed her shop down.

“When the lights started going off, I had to quickly turn off the meter so the AC wouldn’t blow up,” she said.

Citizens have called on authorities responsible for the power stabilisation to act fast so life gets back to normal.

Meanwhile, Energy Minister, Peter Amewu has given his word that the power outages will be over in five days.

Power outages to be over in 5 days – Amewu

The Energy minister Peter Amewu says the power outages being experienced in parts of the country will be over in five days.

He gave the assurance when he visited some sub stations in parts of Accra Thursday.

“Definitely because of the construction work (Pokuase interchange) that is ongoing there is the need for them to halt the transmission of power for this period and so these some of the problems but my expectation thinking is that it is going to be completed withing five days. But we have put in measures to minimize the impact,” he told the media.

Addressing the media at the Pokuase sub station, CEO of GRIDco, Jonathan Amoako Baah said there is enough power to be supplied to the country

"Let me assure Ghanaians that dumsor is not back, we have enough power to supply. After the construction works everything will return to the reliability of supply that we have come to know over the last months”.

According to him, they had to introduce new installations at Pokuase to ensure the cables are safe and can allow free flow of traffic.

He further assured that their project will be completed in 5 days to bring relief to Ghanaians.

Some Ghanaians have expressed anger over the seeming sudden return of power outages popularly known as ‘dumsor’ following the take over of ECG by PDS.
