Nana Akomea has reprimanded the organizers and participants of the Democracy Hub protest that began on Friday, September 20.

The protest, which aimed to challenge the government to clamp down on illegal mining (galamsey) operations, ended in chaos with the police using minimum force to restore order.

The police were compelled to apprehend the protesters after they defied orders and engaged in vandalism around the 37 Military Hospital.

They blocked the road, refusing to allow commuters to pass, and their leader, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, forcibly removed keys from a police vehicle and threw them away, which incurred the wrath of the officers on the scene.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor and others have been taken into police custody awaiting prosecution.

Reacting to the behavior of the protesters, Nana Akomea, Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation, hailed the Ghana Police Service for maintaining their composure despite the provocation by the protesters.

He also commended them for arresting the rogue protesters.

Joining Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" panel discussion, Nana Akomea said, "I am happy that the police were restrained and calm for us to see the misbehavior of the people during the demonstration."

He censured the demonstrators, saying, "All Ghanaians have seen that the misconduct of these people calls for arrest for them to face the law," and questioned the logic behind their actions.

"Is that how to do a demonstration? To block a hospital?"
