Ghanaians have been faulted for treating former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) founder, Jerry John Rawlings with kid gloves despite atrocities which took place under his Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) regime.
“He is being pampered by Ghanaians too much after the 1979 coup to throw out the Acheampong’s government. …he is the luckiest President in the history of the country”, Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwasi Pratt Jnr thinks so.
“After unsuccessful attempts, he was arrested to be killed. …while on trial he managed to escape and later became President for nineteen solid years” the editor pointed out.
The journalist accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party of breaking the country’s electoral laws contrary to what has been stated in the constitution that one person cannot form a political party.
“The NDC has been pampering him so much that they call him a sole founder. This is wrong in the sense of the Constitution and should be corrected”.
Meanwhile, a party stalwart in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mohammed Sani has attacked Mr Rawlings for seeing himself as owner of the umbrella party. According to him, the party has founding fathers across the regions discounting claims he is the sole founder
“NDC is a political party which has not floated it shares. It is not a company and nobody can claim ownership” Alhaji Mohammed Sani stated in a radio interview.
