The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso Adubia in the Ashanti region, Yaw Frimpong Addo, has admonished Ghanaians to change their mindset and attitude in ending corruption in the country.

He has thus urged Ghanaians to help President Akufo-Addo in the fight against corruption.

“Akufo Addo alone cannot fight corruption, Ghanaians must change their mindset and their attitude towards corruption for the betterment of the economy. Akufo Addo is committed to fighting corruption,” Yaw Frimpong Addo told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.

The lawmaker believes the Akufo Addo led government is committed to disown corrupt officials in his government and make sure the law deals with everyone equally.

He stated the corruption has been a chronic identity in all governments since its transition to multi-party democracy in 1992.

He said the careless use of resources is one other way through which Ghanaians promote corruption.

Over the years there have been tremendous growth in media plurality in Ghana. Unfortunately, the growth has not translated into a stronger fight against corruption. While the media in Ghana have fairly attempted to play the watchdog role and the fight against corruption in their reportage, these efforts have not been adequate in stemming the corruption menace.

Ghana is considered to be one of the more stable countries in West Africa, since its transition to multi-party democracy in 1992. Corruption exists in all branches of Ghanaian government, and there is often a lack of accountability.
