The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appealed to multinational companies operating in Ghana to give Ghanaians the opportunity to occupy leadership positions in their respective firms.
In his view, Ghanaians are as qualified as the expatriates who are often brought in to head these firms.
“I would prefer that in most of these big companies, Ghanaians will be allowed to occupy managerial positions instead of always bringing foreigners to do it.
“We shouldn't be bringing people from places outside the country to head those companies when our own people can do it,” the Ashanti Monarch stated when officials of telecom giant MTN paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi Wednesday.
Otumfou, however, urged Ghanaians working with locally-based foreign companies to be truthful and diligent in their dealings in order to win the confidence and trust of their employers.
