A pastor has urged Ghanaians to support the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for committing to an innovative way of fighting corruption in the country.
Addressing students of the University of Ghana, Legon, on Friday, during a book review and book reading of "Dr. Bawumia and the Modern Vice Presidency," authored by Prof. Etse Sikanku, Pastor Alexander King Doku of the Pursuit and Service to God Ministries expressed his admiration for Dr. Bawumia for his commitment to using technology to fight corruption.
"Corruption has dragged this country back over the years and we have not been able to fight it well as a country because we have been using the same method of lip service," said Pastor Alexander Doku.
"However, over the years, I have really admired how Dr. Bawumia has been innovative and committed to using digitalisation to improve systems and fight corruption. This is the way to go,” he added.
The pastor said that having demonstrated such commitment to fighting corruption with new ideas, Dr. Bawumia should be supported in his bid to improve systems.
"The effects and results of his innovative ideas to fight corruption are showing. Such a person who has shown this type of progressive vision to fight corruption ought to be encouraged by Ghanaians. I believe strongly he is a man every young person should support to move the country forward."
Pastor Etse Sikanku also commended Dr. Bawumia for his technologically focused vision for the country, which he said is what the youth and the country need at this stage of the nation's development.
"Dr. Bawumia is very innovative and where the world is going, a digitalised and modernised Ghanaian society is what will transform the Ghanaian society and move the country forward. This is what he believes in."
"Dr. Bawumia represents a new mind who is leading the Ghanaian dream, thereby opening the doors for us to experience the Ghanaian opportunities," he said.
"Young people in Ghana have to build a certain mindset and Bawumia represents that mindset. That is a mindset of possibilities, which is important for every young person in Ghana. No matter where you are and no matter where you are from, you should believe that it is possible to achieve your dreams with hard work and the right attitude."
