President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, has revealed the clear reason(s) why his predecessor lost bitterly in the 2016 general elections.

The president of the republic revealed during the launch of the executive meeting of the International Democrat Union (IDU), Nana Addo revealed that Mahama lost the elections because Ghanaians were unhappy with how he was leading the economic direction of the country.

According to Nana Addo, the “Ghanaian people, dissatisfied with their living conditions, and unhappy with the direction in which the country and, indeed, the economy was headed, voted decisively for change on 7th December, 2016”.

The comments by Nana Addo follow the establishment of a special committee aimed at investigating the real reasons why the NDC lost power in the 2016 elections.

The Kwesi Botchway report which revealed the findings stated among other things that the NDC suffered a defeat due to the abuse of incumbency and also bouts of corruption.

Meanwhile, founder of the party, Jerry John Rawlings is calling on the top executives of the party to ensure that a new and fresh wave of leaders take over the affairs and the problems should be be resolved to win the 2020 election.

It still remains uncertain what Jerry Rawlings meant by that but YEN.com.gh can deduce that Jerry Rawlings is indirectly calling for a new leader, other than John Mahama, to lead the affairs of the party come the 2020 elections.
