Ghanaweb visitors have nominated the following six candidates for the 2002 Person of the Year award:
President J. A. Kufour, Ex-President J. J. Rawlings, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Kofi Wayo, Minister of Defence Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour and Tsatsu Tsikata

Nominations were submitted, through the ghanaweb.com site, from December 12 to 25. A total of 164 nominations were received.
Ghanaweb’s webmaster, Francis Akoto, who made the top six, was disqualified, after management decided members of Ghanaweb could not take part in the poll.
The following personalities got over 10 nominations, but failed to make the top six: Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Alban Bagbin (The Minority Leader), Major Courage Quarshiegah (Minister for Agric), Dr Kwesi Botchway, Osafo Maafo (Finance Minister), Atta-Mills (Presidential candidate for NDC in 2004), Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo,
Others are: Sam Jonah, Emmanuel Ofori (President of Pan-African Foundation for Humanity), Ibn Chambas, Kofi Baako
The following members of the Ghanaweb Discussion Forum, “Say It Loud” (SIL), who were also nominated, did not make the final six: Kwaku Azar, Patriot Turncoat, Prof. Nana Kofi Pete, Rev. Dr. Nii L. Zanga, Dr. Kofi Ellison. A separate vote will be held for “SILalites”
Others who failed to make it were: The Ghanaian armed robber, the rural poor, Accra taxi drivers, the sufferring patient Ghanaians.
Last year the award went to the UN secretary general Kofi Annan. He was ineligible this year.
