Girl, 21, jumps to her death

The Elembelle Police command have started a man-hunt for the body of a 21 year old woman who committed suicide Friday afternoon, by jumping into river Ankobrah via the Dominase Bridge in the Western Region.

The woman, identified only as Rita, was travelling with a group of friends from Tarkwa to Anyinase in the Ellembele District where they went to bury a departed friend.

Eyewitnesses say Rita’s action took everyone on the bus by surprise.

She is reported to have asked the driver to stop for her to ease herself, but after the bus stopped , she walked straight to the Dominase Bridge, climbed the metal railings and jumped into the river.

The Ellembelle District Police Command are holding the driver of the Hyundai vehicle with registration number GR 3429-13, on which they were traveling, to assist with investigations.

Her friends have reportedly joined the search-party looking for the body Starr News' Western Regional correspondent, Emmanuel Ohene Gyan has said.
