Kumasi, June 23, GNA - A controversy over a mobile phone that culminated into a fierce fight between two female head porters ("Kayayei"), resulted in sudden death of one of them in Kumasi last Saturday.
The body of the deceased given as Sharifatu had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue pending autopsy. Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Tuesday, Chief Inspector Remmy Tinati of the Kejetia Police Division said the deceased, who was 20 years old and Yaa Abrefi, 19, were friends.
He said they both ladies hailed from the Northern part of Ghana. The Chief Inspector said last Saturday June 20, around 0830 hours, the two friends, who always spend the night in front of a shop, were seen engaged in a scuffle over how a phone owned by Yaa Abrefi's boyfriend got to Sharifatu, the deceased.
