Give Kufuor Administration another four years - DCE

Ekumfi Adansiman (C/R), Oct. 24, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur has appealed to Ghanaians to give Kufuor administration another four-year term of office to enable it consolidate the programme and polices it had initiated to improve conditions of living of the people.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur said, by giving NPP administration another four years, Ghanaians would be in a better position to assess the achievements of NPP with those of NDC, which enjoyed two terms in office.

The DCE made the appeal at the inauguration of a 159-million cedi 16-seater toilet at Ekumfi Adansiman in the Central Region at the weekend.

The project, which was funded by the HIPC Fund was executed by Cobmen Enterprise Limited of Saltpond.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur announced an award of scholarship to five needy orphans in the community to enable them complete their basic education and paid a cash of 200,000 cedis as their fees for the 2004/2005 academic year.

He also promised to provide them with school uniforms when there was a need for it.

The assemblyman, Mr Francis Nkrumah and Nana Abban, the Obaatan of the town appealed for a solution to the acute water problem facing them, even though they had pipe stands.

Water had ceased running through the pipes for years and the town had become a guinea worm endemic area.

The DCE advised the people to construct water reservoir for storing water and donated 50 bags of cement for the project. He said even though the government was making efforts to improve water supply system in the Central Region as a whole, the reservoir could be a short-term measure to address the problem. Miss Adelaide Arthur, a citizen of the town donated two million cedis for the start of the project.

Mr Jacob Mensah, Managing Director of Cobmen Enterprise Limited expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the town for their support during the execution of the project.
