The newly-enskinned Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government to construct a new palace for the northern kingdom.
Commending the president for his role in restoring peace to Dagbon after a protracted chieftaincy dispute, Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II said the construction of a new palace will complement the achievement of Mr Akufo-Addo.
The new Ya Na made the appeal at his investiture in Yendi on Friday, 25 January 2019.
“Over the past two years, you and your government have acted fairly and impartially in this matter. You never gave up even in the face of enormous challenges in the pursuit of peace in Dagbon,” he stated, adding: “Your Excellency, having ensured that there is now a united Dagbon, you have one major job to do for Dagbon. It is the construction of a befitting palace for the Ya Na. I earnestly appeal to you to build a palace for Dagbon. The provision of a palace for the Ya Na will be a great supplement to the great achievement you have already chalked by uniting Dagbon. Dagbon is forever grateful”.
He further pledged his commitment towards peace and development in Dagbon and the Northern Region as a whole
