Give us potable water-Market Queen

Ho, March 25, GNA - Madam Grace Gbongbon, Market Queen of Ho Ahoe Market has appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to as a matter of urgency provide the Market with potable water. She said the absence of the facility had caused the spread of diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera.

Madam Grace made the appeal during an interaction with personnel of the GWCL at a clean up exercise at the Market organised to mark this year's World Water Day, which fell on March 22. The Market Queen lamented that for the several decades that the Market was constructed, it had no water, a situation, which compromised the health status of sellers and buyers. She said traders in the market handle many things including different types of foodstuffs, including some fresh from the farms and others cooked.

The Market Queen said the availability of the facility would enhance cleanliness of the Market and help prevent avoidable diseases and make the Market comfortable for all.

Madam Celestina Amoah, Volta Regional GWCL Ladies Association Organizer advised Market women to always keep their surroundings clean and make hand washing with soap a habit to stay healthy. She said this was because the little carelessness on their part endangered the lives of others including their own relations. Madam Amoah urged them to protect water pipes at their homes and help the GWCL to serve them better. 25 March 08
