A former National Organiser aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Osei Akoto, has criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the recurring power outages in the country.

Expressing his unhappiness with the way the government of the day has handled the issue of electricity management in the country, he called on the president to act immediately.

Speaking during the recent protest at Kumasi in the Ashanti Regional, where residents and members of the NDC demonstrated against the persistent power cuts, he said that it is time to act on the power crisis in the country.

He also lamented about how badly businesses are being affected by the power cuts.

“All we are asking Nana Akufo-Addo is to give us power, that’s all. Apart from that there is nothing he can do for us. He should give us power so we can go back to our businesses.

“What we are telling Nana Akufo-Addo, the ECG, GRIDCo and all the independent power producers is that we need power. Businesses are collapsing. We need power,” he expressed his frustration,” he said.

Henry Osei Akoto said this when he addressed journalists at the ‘Dumsor’ protest at Kumasi.

The protest was also aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the detrimental impact of the erratic power supply on the economy of the country.
