Some residents of Glefe a suburb of Dansoman have vowed not to vote during the next election due to government’s failure to tackle the flood situation in the area.

According to them, the Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful said Glefe has failed to pay any attention or make a move to tackle the flooding issues.

Some residents say they usually evacuate from their homes for their safety and the fear of being trapped anytime it rains.

“Ursula Owusu has failed to solve our flood issues, she comes around but has never stopped to ask us how we are coping, we won’t vote for her again if she doesn’t solve our flooding issue,” one resident told GhanaWeb.

Residents have questioned government’s failure to find a permanent solution to the flooding challenges in the country.

Perennial flooding in areas such Dansoman Glefe, Adabraka and Circle have rendered many homeless.

Residents in Adabraka and Odwana, during GhanaWeb’s visit to the areas called on government to find a different solution in handling the overflow of the Odwana river anytime it rains.

They indicated that the desilting of the river over the years has not changed the situation since the area is still flooded anytime it rains.
