Global Evangelical Church to launch Endowment Fund

The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church Rt. Rev. Dr. Edem Tettey, will on Saturday inaugurate the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) and also launch an initial GH¢800,000.00 Endowment Fund for the institution.

Rev. Dr Tettey, who is also the Chairman of the Global Theological Seminary Governing Council, will be supported, by Rt. Rev. Dr. C.W.F. Gbekor, Rector, GTS.

Mr Samuel Okudjeto-Ablakwah will be the Guest of Honour while Professor Stephen Adei, Former Rector, GIMPA would be the Guest Speaker.

The launch of the endowment fund is a critical requirement of the National Accreditation Board for the granting of accreditation to the GTS.

A Letter of Interim Authority, which is a step to full accreditation, was issued to GTS in April 2013 by the National Accreditation Board and it is expected that the necessary documentation for full accreditation will be presented to the Board by March 30th 2015.

Currently, the Global Theological Seminary is affiliated with the Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS), Legon.

In this arrangement, the Trinity Theological Seminary supervises the academic programmes of the Global Theological Seminary. Until the latter (GTS) gains Presidential Charter to operate as a full-fledged university, its Theological degrees and diplomas will be awarded by the former (TTS).

As GTS works towards a university status, there are plans to seek institutional affiliation with other universities such as the University of Ghana, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the University of Cape Coast in various academic disciplines.

The GTS vision is to become a world-class tertiary institution responding to the needs of society.

The Seminary currently offers the following courses: Diploma in Theology – Regular/Modular, Certificate in Theology—Regular, Certificate in Christian Ministry and Certificate in Missions and Evangelism.

Others are Certificate in Counseling, Certificate in Preaching and Certificate in Church Music.

Plans are afoot to start non-theological certificate programmes in Business Management, Information Communication Technology, Basic Education, Veterinary Technicianship, Project Management, Agribusiness and many other disciplines to meet the ever increasing demand for relevant and market-driven education required by the Ghanaian youth and populace at large as the Seminary strives towards the attainment of a full university status.

The Theological Seminary (GTS) started in 1991 as a response to the call to recruit and train pastors for the numerous congregations of the then E.P. Church of Ghana (now Global Evangelical Church) that were left without pastors during the split in the E.P Church
