(CPOD) Jun. 30, 2004 ? Many African adults in seven countries welcome globalization, according to a poll by GlobeScan released by the Program on International Policy Attitudes. 66 per cent of respondents believe the increased trade between countries in goods, services and investment is positive.
Residents of Ghana and Kenya illustrated the highest degree of support for globalization, with 82 per cent and 79 per cent respectively. Conversely, only 35 per cent of respondents in Zimbabwe say increased trade is good.

As you may know, there are both positive and negative impacts from increasing globalization occurring in the world. By globalization, I mean the increased trade between countries in goods, services and investment. Thinking of you and your family?s interests, do you think the overall effect of globalization is very positive, somewhat positive, somewhat negative or very negative?

Methodology: Interviews to 6,451 African adults in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, conducted from Nov. 21, 2003 to Feb. 12, 2004. Interviews were conducted face-to-face in all countries except South Africa, where telephone sampling was used. No margin of error was provided.
