God has been good to me - Oti Bless

Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, John Oti Bless, has welcome Parliament’s approval of his nomination as deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, describing it as "great".

Parliament on Wednesday approved Oti Bless’ deputy ministerial nomination after members from both sides of the House reached a consensus over his job appointment.

Approval of his nominations had been in limbo for the past three months following his alleged abusive remarks directed at the Judiciary, specifically the Chief Justice, Theodora Wood, in the infamous Montie FM saga.

He later expressed remorse, issuing an unqualified apology to the judiciary. The issue of his approval resurfaced on October 20, 2016 on the floor of the house but the minority kicked against it due to the lack of numbers to discuss the issue.

But at a sitting on Wednesday, October 26, Oti Bless was finally approved by the House after the Speaker called for a vote over his nomination.

Speaking minutes after his clearance, the deputy minister designate told Citi FM “…today is a great day, a day of praise unto God for the great things he has done.”

He continued that: “God is indeed a true God and a wonderful God that has to be praised everyday every time without asking.

“So, what I can say is to give thanks to God and that responsibility has been bestowed on me and within this short period I’ll do my best and whatever God has in me to be brought out for the public to see what it can do.”

He promised to hit the ground running despite the fact that he has only two months to serve before the tenure of the government ends.

Meanwhile, some minority members of the House are describing him as an “injury time” deputy minister.
