Gomoa East NDC Chairman faces one month suspension

The Central Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has imposed a one-month suspension on the Gomoa East Constituency Chairman of the party for gross misconduct and indiscipline.

Mr. Peter Kojo Essel, the chairman was suspended for physically assaulting Mr. Kwesi Acquah, Gomoa East Constituency Secretary of the party about two weeks ago at Gomoa Afransi over a misunderstanding.

Mr. Ekow Okyere Panyin, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa East confirmed the story to newsmen at Gomoa Afransi on Thursday during the final funeral rites of President John Evans Atta Mills which was organised by the District Assembly.

He said Mr. Peter Kojo Essel, after serving the suspension, would face the Regional Disciplinary Committee in Cape Coast at a date yet to be fixed.

According to the MP, about two weeks ago a little misunderstanding ensued between Mr. Essel and Acquah on the impending Gomoa Central Primaries.

He said during an exchange of ideas, Mr. Essel physically assaulted Mr. Acquah.

The MP said Mr. Acquah made an official report to the Regional Executives who decided to apply the punishment in line with the party''s constitution.

Nana Williams, newly elected Chairman for Gomoa Central Constituency who was present during the assault, also confirmed that Mr. Essel assaulted Mr. Acquah.

He said the decision of the Regional Executive would help instill discipline in the Party.**
