Gomoa Nyanyano Chief launches Education Fund

Nyanyano (C/R), July 10, GNA - The chief of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region, Nana Obeng Wiabo V, has launched a GH¢10,000 Educational Endowment Fund to assist brilliant but needy students in the town to further their education to the tertiary level.

Launching the Fund at Gomoa Nyanyano, Nana Wiabo said, he had personally set aside GH¢1,000 as seed money to start the Fund and appealed to the well-to-do citizens of Nyanyano, corporate bodies, financial institutions, companies and other philanthropists to also contribute their quotas.

He said for 17 years since he was enstooled; he had seen poverty denied a lot of brilliant children in the area the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Nana Wiabo said the establishment of the Fund had become necessary to assist such children and orphans because education is key to human and general development.

He said Nyanyano is blessed with natural resources and over the years, the chiefs have tried hard to achieve the vision of the people but to no avail.

He said education could help reduce infant and maternal mortality because the people would be literate to understand the importance of good nutrition and environmental cleanliness.

Nana Wiabo hoped that the implementation of the Fund would create opportunity for children of Gomoa Nyanyano to get access to higher education.

He called on parents to encourage their children to study hard and also advised them against habits that would not contribute to the success of their education.
