Tamale,(Northern Region) 22, Sept. The Gonja Association of North America (GANA) has donated a computer worth 3,000 dollars to the Damongo Secondary School (DASS) to enhance computer literacy in the school. The 486 computers were donated through the president of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mr. Daniel Nyankamawu, at a ceremony in Tamale at the weekend. Mr. Nyankamawu said the donation is in fulfilment of the association's aim of ensuring positive change and development among the people of the area. He said the donation also aims at raising academic status in DASS which is the first secondary school in the West Gonja, East Gonja and Bole Districts. Mr. Nyankamawu said GANA has also instituted an annual scholarship scheme to support six brilliant students with a grant of 600 dollars to enhance their academic work. Mr. Daniel Paali, Headmaster of DASS who received the computer, said the donation is very opportune since it would put the students in the forefront of being computer literates in the Northern Region. He enjoined students of the school to take their studies seriously to benefit from the sacrifices being made to the school. Mr. T.A. Mahama, president of the Old Students Association, appealed to the Gonja Traditional Council, the youth association and other opinion leaders to assist the school to celebrate its silver jubilee this year.
