Accra, March 5, GNA - Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Chairman, President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday said relationships between ECOWAS governments was very cordial. He said the West African Sub-Region being a very small comity of countries and related to each other, neighbouring countries sought to rally around promptly to solve conflicts.
President Kufuor made the observation when Ambassador Daudi Ngelautwa Mwakawago, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Sierra Leone called on him at the Castle, Osu.
He, therefore, appealed to Heads of State and Governments within the Sub-Region to ensure that existing peace and stability were sustained for the benefit of the people in the Sub-Region.
Ambassador Mwakawago said the visit was to brief the ECOWAS Chairman on the developments in Sierra Leone.
He said the conflicts within the Sub-Region were inter-related and, therefore, a common solution should be found to sustain the prevailing peace.
Ambassador Mwakawago said the UN was in the process of beefing up the stabilization forces in Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire and Sierra Leone.
