Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 2, GNA - A goods train carrying bauxite from Awaso to the Takoradi Port was involved in an accident at Tarkwa on Monday.

The engine of the train, which had 19 coaches filled with bauxite fell off the rails leaving the coaches and their contents on the line. Mr. Charles Bossman, the driver told the Ghana News Agency that he heard an unusual noise and when he stopped to investigate, the engine fell off the rails.

Mr. J.K. Emill, Tracks Superintendent attributed the derailment to a mistake by the Signal Man who placed the train on a wrong track. The driver and his assistant who were the only people on board escaped unhurt.
