... Airline embarrasses government and the entire nation.
...Gov't absorbs airline's $160 million debt
The managing editor of the Independent newspaper, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr says government?s dissolution of the management board of Ghana Airways and its subsequent take-over, has come too late.
According to Mr. Faibille, government could have done more to salvage the image of Ghana Airways, to prevent it from the embarrassment that the airline has brought to the government and the entire nation.
Mr. Faibille made these pronouncements when he featured as a panel member on Peacefm?s Friday newspaper discussion programme hosted by Kwame Sefa Kayi today. He said it is a big embarrassment to the nation and the government in particular to have changed the management board of the airline three times in about four years.
He however described government?s intervention as a step in the right direction as government had announced that it has absorbed the $160million debt. He said this will make the airline attractive to potential bidders, who would express interest in taking over the airline.
Meanwhile another journalist Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr. of the Insight newspaper, says although Ghanaians have the right to voice out their feelings on how the nation is run, they must recognize the mandate of the government and allow it to handle the situation.
