Goaso (B/A), June 27, - The government has initiated a programme to ensure that people do not travel more than ten kilometres to reach a health facility. In pursuance of this, the Ministry of Health is upgrading and re-equipping a number of health centres into hospitals while additional health facilities are being built throughout the country. Dr Eunice Brookman-Amissah, the sector Minister, announced this at Goaso where she commissioned the newly-upgraded Goaso Government Hospital yesterday. The 40-bed hospital with two doctors and 25 nurses, has been fully re-equipped to render quality health services to the 181,000 people in the area. Dr Brookman-Amissah said her ministry has since last year begun re-equipping all health institutions in the country to enhance their efficiency under government/British Department for Internatio She said all the six government hospitals in the region have already benefited while the three new health centres at Amantin, Nkrankwanta and Badu will be re-equipped before the end of the year.
