A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party’s [NPP] Communications Team, Titus Glover, has alleged that government is issuing fake Ghanaian birth certificates to Burkinabe nationals along the country’s borders to enable them partake in the upcoming biometric voter registration to be conducted by the Electoral Commission ahead of the 2012 elections.
Speaking on Adom TV’s BADWAM show on Multi TV, Mr. Glover indicated that the NPP has reliable information that the ruling NDC is trying to rig the 2012 elections noting that the NPP is aware of all the tricks the ruling party intends to employ to achieve this feat.
Commenting on President Mills’ duty tour of the Greater Accra region, Mr. Glover said “the better Ghana agenda is not about the commissioning of the projects since a lot of people are complaining that the President has failed them on the delivery of the better Ghana agenda.”
According to him, the high cost of living and the poor performance of pupils in the recent Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) are indications of President Mills’ failure to deliver on his promise of a better Ghana.
Mr. Glover also accused the ruling party of engaging in massive corruption and also stealing from the Ghanaian tax payer.
But in a rebuttal, the Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah, indicated that the Kuffuor administration in their “first term did not go round to commission projects… they did not even go to inspect the work of the DCEs because when they were in power they did not respect the ordinary Ghanaian.”
He noted that criticisms of the Mills administration by the opposition NPP only goes to buttress the point that the NPP is only interested in the downfall of Ghana.
He thus called on the NPP to exercise patience in their quest to wrestle power from the NDC come 2012.
