The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa constituency Patricia Appiagyei has accused the Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberately sabotaging the constituency when it comes to infrastructural development.

Madam Appiagyei complained that the government has done absolutely nothing to improve the constituency within its eight years in power.

‘One thing I have noticed is, I don’t know if its deliberate on the side of the NDC government to sabotage Kumasi and the Asokwa constituency, the government has been touting its achievements, but no infrastructural development has been put up in my constituency by the government,’ she said.

She observed that most of the constituencies in the metropolis are developed, complaining that the Asokwa constituency has been neglected.

Speaking with Host of Ultimate Breakfast Show Lantam Papanko, during the station’s outreach programme ‘Kumasi Speaks’ at Asokwa, she said the former Mayor of Kumasi Kojo Bonsu only resourced NDC constituencies in the metropolis and left out Asokwa.

She accused the former Mayor of not setting his priorities right during his reign at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

‘KMA under NDC government has not added even one kilometre of road in Asokwa, all the roads in the constituency were constructed during New Patriotic Party (NPP) time, KMA deliberately doesn’t want to move Kumasi forward and that of Asokwa,’ she stated.

Madam Appiagyei indicated that she would have changed the fortunes of the constituency if she had received the needed support from the assembly.

‘If I were to be in a municipality like Asawase, with my resources put together with that of the assembly, I would have changed the fortunes of the Asokwa constituency but I don’t have all the money. I have been refurbishing maternity ward, distributing computers to schools, building of ICT centers, cements to schools, health screening, bought drugs valued at ten thousand Ghana cedis, generator for the police station. I have put up so many infrastructural development in the constituency, you can check for yourself,’ she indicated.

According to her, she has been lobbying with Urban Roads to work on the drains to help solve flooding which destroys properties when it rains.

‘After assessing the affected spots, they (Urban roads) told me they don’t have money to work on the drains, the NDC government has not embarked on any infrastructural development in Kumasi,’ she said.

She said the NDC government is full of corrupt and incompetent officials who have mismanaged the country.

The NPP Parliamentary candidate appealed to the electorates to vote massively for her and the NPP during the December polls to solve pertaining issues bedevilling Ghana.
